Wine Tasting Notes:
On colour
Survivor Pinotage Reserve 2022 shows a deep ruby to purple colour, with a vivid, youthful rim that points to its relative freshness. The depth of colour suggests good concentration of fruit and moderate extraction.
On the nose
The nose is expressive and ripe, offering layers of black cherry, plum and mulberry alongside notes of redcurrant and raspberry. There are also hints of sweet spice, mocha and vanilla from oak, with a subtle smoky, roasted coffee and dried-herb edge typical of Pinotage.
On the palate
On the palate the wine is dry, full-bodied and generously fruited, with flavours of dark cherry, plum compote and wild berries supported by medium to medium plus acidity. The tannins are firm but rounded, framed by toasty oak, cocoa and a touch of spice, leading to a fairly long finish where dark fruit and gentle smokiness linger.
On the whole
A bold, dark-fruited Pinotage with smoky oak spice, firm yet rounded structure and a long, flavourful finish.
