Wine Tasting Notes:
On colour
Mitre’s Edge Viognier 2022 would typically show a medium lemon to pale gold colour, indicating ripe fruit and possible lees or oak influence rather than a very lean style. The wine would appear bright and slightly viscous in the glass, hinting at moderate alcohol and a rounded texture on the palate.
On the nose
The nose would likely be pronounced and aromatic, with ripe apricot, peach and nectarine at the core, accompanied by honeysuckle and orange‑blossom florals. Hints of mandarin zest, ripe pear and perhaps a touch of vanilla, spice or creaminess from barrel and lees ageing might add complexity while keeping the profile opulent and exotic.
On the palate
On the palate the wine would be dry, medium‑ to full‑bodied and richly textured, showing layers of apricot, peach and ripe stone fruit alongside tangerine and a touch of melon. Moderate acidity, a slightly oily or glycerol mouthfeel and discreet oak or lees‑derived creaminess would lead to a smooth, warming finish, with lingering stone‑fruit and floral notes rather than sharp citrus.
On the whole
A plush, aromatic Viognier style, emphasising ripe stone fruit and florals, moderate acidity and a broad, gently creamy palate.
