On colour
Bellevue “The 1952” Cinsault 2021 shows a limpid, medium ruby core with a slight bluish-pink edge, underlining its youthful energy and elegance rather than power. The brightness and moderate depth of colour are typical of old-vine Cinsault, suggesting delicacy, transparency and finesse more than extraction.
On the nose
The nose is expressive and perfumed, with lifted notes of raspberry, wild strawberry, maraschino cherry and pomegranate, accented by hints of rose petal and pink musk. Underneath the high-toned fruit lie subtle nuances of blood orange, Turkish delight and a gentle herbal-spice edge that add complexity while preserving a sense of purity.
On the palate
On the palate the wine is dry, medium-bodied and finely textured, wrapping its red-berry and pomegranate fruit in a silky, almost weightless mouthfeel supported by beautifully integrated, seamless acidity. Tight-knit, fine-grained tannins provide understated structure, carrying flavours of raspberry, strawberry, blood orange and mixed red berries through to a long, fresh, elegant finish with lingering floral and Turkish delight notes.
On the whole
A poised, silken old-vine Cinsault, brimming with fragrant red fruit, floral lift and refined, quietly powerful structure.
